Some pictures from Harmony 2008 held in the Punjabi Community Centre on Saturday 26th April. Harmony 2008 was a charity dinner dance held in Goan style with the local Goan and non-Goan population of Swindon. The profits from the event will be shared equally between the Children's Unit of the Great Western Hospital and a Goan order of nuns called Handmaids of Christ who care for, and educate orphaned children in Calagute, Bardez, Goa.
The event provided a varied programme of entertainment and featured the Goan band Rainbow's End, Gabriel solo on keyboards, virtuoso Rohan Kapadia with Tabla drums and Christine playing beautifully on the harp. There was also a great contribution from the younger population of beautiful violin playing, traditional Goan Mando dance, and delightful Bollywood dancing.
Chef Savio and his family prepared and cooked the food in Goan style. Traditional Goan dishes of Sorpatel and Cafreal with a vegetarian option, catered to everyones taste.
We had a great party with over two hundred people in the hall and raised a contribution for the two charities.
